Daily reading for 20 minutes E readers are regularly updated or choose a book from home.
Phonics - This week we are reviewing sounds we have learnt so far. There will be some suggestions for games each day, or log into Phonics play and choose any phase 5 games, sentence practice and tricky words.
Maths - This week there is more than one activity or sheet each day, and some challenge activities. Please choose one.
Monday 8th February
Today we are thinking about the similarities and differences between fiction ( story books) and non fiction ( information books).
Look through a non fiction book. Find the features on the list. If you can, take some photos of the pages with the labels and return via starz or email to school.
One more, one less
Can we sort animals by what they eat? Do you know what animals are called who eat meat, plants, both?
Use what you know about animals, the Powerpoint, or facts you have found out, to sort the animals into their groups
Tuesday 9th February
Read the fact sheet about giraffes. You are going to turn these facts into a book. Remember all the features you found yesterday. You need to organise the facts using these features.

You are going to be an animal explorer and go on an adventure! What do you think you would need to pack to take with you? Think carefully about where you decide to go in your imagination. What clothing will you need, equipment, tools?
Draw pictures and label what you would take. Don’t forget to say where your adventure is going to be!

Wednesday 10th February
Today you are going to make your own fact file about elephants. Find out some facts about elephants and show them in the fact file template.

Thursday 11th February
So today you are going to use all that you have learnt about non fiction text. Find out facts about an African animal of your choice. Then you can show them as a fact file or as a non fiction book. Remember all the features we have looked at this week.

Tricky word review
Have a fun afternoon. Can you complete a puzzle, do some cooking, use your toys to create a scene from Africa or Antarctica, build an explorers jeep from junk modelling or blocks, make an African or Polar animal?
You can make a den and read a book or perhaps listen to a story. Get outside and see if you can spot any signs of spring.
