This week we will be following the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. I'm sure it is a story you know well! If you have a book of the story at home - go and look it out. Perhaps you have more than one version which you can compare. Don't worry if you don't have it. You can find good versions on You Tube, or Twinkl.com - Jack and the Beanstalk eBook.
(Twinkl have free access for parents, use code UKTWINKLHELPS). Or I am sure you can re tell the story using lots of actions.
There is a brilliant BBC version on You Tube - it is quite long, but has lots of songs to learn as it tells the story. You could watch it in chunks and put on a show of the songs!!
Reading - read the story together. Encourage your child to read as much as they can. Perhaps make up voices as you read for the characters. Find other Traditional stories to read and talk about the similarities and differences. If you don't have books at home for this, Oxfordowl.co.uk has free ebooks. Section aged 5-6 has The frog Prince and Rumplestiltskin.
Phonics - Be like Geraldine Giraffe. Go for a hunt around the house for this weeks phonemes. Message me on Starz+ to share what you found.
Finally - Don't forget to have a look at the 'Big Hatch Project' on you tube to see how eggs hatch into chicks.
I have attached the home learning booklet for this week. We encourage you to look at the activities and either copy them out or some are repeated here. You do not need to print everything out. You do not need to be doing everything. Dip in and out and encourage your child to do what they can. Be kind to yourself. Stay in touch, Id love to see what everyone is doing.
