Lent challenge

Lent challenges are something we do as a whole school you may remember some of them from Year 1.

This year the theme is: Hope and a Future.

Lent Challenge 2021 is about hope and a future. A future for us all in God’s world. There is much in the world at the moment where hope is needed. Life seems as if it has been put on hold, but God’s love is always there for us all. This Lent we are asking all our school, children, and staff to take part in Bishop Stephen’s Lent Challenge 2021, to know that we live in hope and we live in God.

I will put the full document up so you can read about them.

Week 1: What are the hopes of children?

Let’s find out...What happened in 2020? How did the virus affect our lives and where do we look for hope? Can we see a way ahead now? How can we be reflective and work together in our school as a hopeful community?

Let the Bible inspire us…. passages from the Bible that help us to find out more about the hope that God gives us:

Genesis Chapter 9 verses 6-12 After forty days Noah opened a window he had made in the ark and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth. Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. But the dove could find nowhere to perch because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark. He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. 1When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth. He waited seven more days and sent the dove out again, but this time it did not return to him

We will then be painting stones the colours of the rainbows and making 3D rainbows. Perhaps you could do this at home or make a rainbow display for your window. When you go on your walk can you see how many rainbows you can see.

The activities can be done whenever fits into your week and we would love to see your pictures of what you are up to at home for the challenge. If you could send them to us by Friday that would be great.
